    Hello Miguel,

    The glass that I look through is clear, not red - the rubber mask into which I put my face keeps the light out. I would recommend buying a snorkeling mask and waiting until you get it to cut the window, then glue the mask into it or use tape like I did.

    Hi Anton, I'm writing a book about the Pink and White Terraces in New Zealand and need to know the focal length of 1880's cameras used with the standard landscape lens i.e. Dallmeyer Rapid-Rectilinear lenses. The cameras used e.g. the Meagher whole plate and 12"by10" dry plate ones. Can you possibly advise the focal length of such lenses? I'm estimating 21.5" for landscape use. Many thanks, Rex Bunn, NZ

      Hopefully you'll see this as this is a reply to your comment and best way to contact me would be through an email above. Nonetheless, let me try to answer here. Dalmeyer RR lenses were of a 'normal' focal length - so their 12x10 RR lens would be 16in. Of course you could put a longer lens on one of those and take a more telephoto image, but for landscapes that was done less usually. Usually a landscape image would actually be done with a moderate wide angle, so something like a 7-10in on 12x10.
